Open letter to Gordon Brown
Dear Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

I, Bryndís Vigfúsdóttir, SSN [retracted] here write to you to say that I am not a terrorist. I don't know any terrorists, or can I believe that there could be possible terrorist cell operating in Iceland.

I can no longer use my credit card to shop online due to the actions of you and the government of the United Kingdom against Iceland.

Your current action threatens the pension fund of all regular citizens of Iceland. It does nothing to threaten the pension fund of the politicians that are most likely the only faces of Iceland that you have seen. Their pension fund is separate from the citizen's pension fund.

I am a student, and I work part time with Domino's Pizza in the call center. I am in a union, which arrangements are on par with your unions. But due to the work load I have in school, I do not earn as much as I need to in order to hold off my current health complications.

I have never taken a loan. I did admit I have a credit card, but it has actually no credit. I am not a fan of personal loans. I have enough on savings to buy a nice but used car.

I am not a terrorist. I am not one of those who helped with the problem the mortgage market in the United States of America created. The laws you are proposing, and the ones you have put on us tell me that I am a terrorist. I have no recollection of ever threatening the economy of the United Kingdom, openly attacked your citizens or in any way terrorized them.

More and more, you are looking like Denmark to me. I suggest that you open up a history book on Iceland and read about what exactly did happen before we got independent in 1944. As it is, I think that is the direction Iceland is heading in, and you are doing nothing to help Iceland recover and everything to push Iceland in the direction we were once in and not by our choice.

Signed, Bryndís Vigfúsdóttir, citizen of Iceland

ET fails at calling home
That the all mighty "ET phone home" system in the Spore creature editor that I got for free at the store is no match for my router. I never could register the bloody game, and now it will not even open. So, if anyone is going to download a spore creature editor and needs a registry key or something, email me. I've got no use for it now. I don't know if it is the same thing in download and in getting the editor from the store.

Results: I have no hope of ever playing Spore. Huzzay.

Wrote until computer crashed badly
This is just far from fun. I come home from work, having previously in the day done the cutscene for the beginning of Outskirts, and I find out that the computer that had my file crashed, in a big way. The type of 'buy the spare parts from the US' crash.

So I need to ask the repair man to fetch the file for me if I want to have it done by Christmas day. The good thing is that I will just rely on the transcript for Outskirts, the speedrun covering it takes a huge 15 minute gap of gameplay away.

So typing on a sucky loud keyboard, continuing where I left off.

The Heretic - Done
The Armory - Done
Cairo Station - Done
Outskirts - In progress, They'll Regret That Too segment.
Metropolis
The Arbiter
Oracle
Delta Halo
Regret
Sacred Icon
Quarantine Zone
Gravemind
Uprising
High Charity
The Great Journey

Writing. Finally.
As a Christmas present for my uncle, who is a fan of the Halo novels but does not play the games, I am transcribing the Halo 2 game in novel format.

Though that means that I am giving up Mass Effect until January, my new favorite game now replacing halo, it is fun.

I know there is already a scriptlike transcript of Halo 2, but linking those is not as satisfying as writing. And I love writing this though it is time consuming. I use for assist the script transcript, fan made, speedruns and the cutscene library. The first land last located on Halo.Bungie.Org and the speedruns are located at High Speed Halo. I need to catch up on the speedruns.

So, status report:
The Heretic - Done
The Armory - Done
Cairo Station - Done
Outskirts - Not begun, I have work
Metropolis
The Arbiter
Oracle
Delta Halo
Regret
Sacred Icon
Quarantine Zone
Gravemind
Uprising
High Charity
The Great Journey

Word Count: 7,135 words.

Revisiting speculations
Halo 3. I remember when the first trailer came, and I just remembered that I made some wild speculation of what would occur in Halo 3.

So here it is. )

Transformers
Because I have half an hour to kill at the moment before going to work, exhausted all my surfing options, I want to talk about my recent viewing pleasure.

When looking at my brother's screen, I noticed that not only he was fetching the live action movie of Transformers, but the first series as well, keeping the second, third, and the short barely registered as fourth season of the first generation of Transformers. We two actually saw the movie in US release date instead of month later because Nexus, the only single nerd-o-store in Iceland had a special preview. They did the same for 300, AKA: 600 nipples.

I fell in love with the Transformers when I saw the movie, probably making... )

I still love the series, the movie could have been better, and I will in few days start watching the third series, but watch some of the old episodes to remind me how it was. Then move on the more recent series like the Beastwars and that.

And I still want G1 Starscream action figure.

wha?
When I get denied ordering stuff online because my name has funny characters...

More complicated version. The store can't accept funny characters in the First name, Last name fields, but the name has to match the name on the credit card, which has funny characters. Emailed the store.

C# Paintbucket and ringtones
Look at what I wrote in five minutes, yawned thirty times, and while I hadn't gotten a sleep in 32 hours. And this doesn't mean a thing to you non-coders, so bugger off and read the rest. )

I am doing laundry, doing dinner duty tonight, but the hell I will sweep the floor. I will be asking my bro once he comes from work, and while he does that, I will be watching NCIS, Bones and Las Vegas. It is now approaching two weeks since my parents buggered off to Nepal and Tibet, and me and my bro have managed.

I found Quantum Leap midi, Firefly midi and NCIS midi. Now I am thinking if I should change my Doctor Who midi on my cell to either Quantum Leap, Firefly, NCIS or Early Edition. Call me a nerd, but when one of my co-workers jumps from his stall asking on top of his lungs who had the Doctor Who midi, I am more into the obscure theme songs, like Quantum Leap or Early Edition? Any thoughts?

School please
I can't wait until I begin school again. The 22nd can't arrive soon enough. Why am I so excited about getting back to school? The fact that it is 3 AM should tell you something. I want my body-clock fixed, badly. Too bad work has discovered I have little real life so it gives me a lot of graveyard shifts during weekends, where it is done at 3 AM. So I get big paychecks but not much time to spend it.

And then I am in a RP where most of the fellow players are from the US, and I am in Iceland, so that most of the action happens during 1 to 5 AM, and the last weeks I was a big enough idiot to stay up late. I have gotten a break from the RP, but I am still hanging online too much, with no big motivator to make me go to bed early, and the work motivates me to stay awake so that I can be good employee during the graveyard shifts.

School will fix that. Then I am allowed to get three-four days for time off per week, which depends on the schedule. Then I have big enough motivator to wake up early and go to bed sooner. Programming classes at a level that I actually should not be in, I still have no idea how I scored 70% final grade without a final assignment. Database and web-design classes with the greatest teacher ever, and some photoshop classes, which will probably not teach me anything new, I just needed the class to fill in the semester.

I want to go to school now!

Homicide
There was a homicide in Iceland, I think it is the first one since I made this blog, over a year ago.

Crime of passion, ex-husband shot his ex-wive's current boyfriend with a gun, who died on the hospital the day after, then killed himself by slashing himself shortly after.

Icelandic murders are simple. We are a tight community, you know a person by second or third person (I know Bjork from second), and because we are so few, you only need a motivation to be sure who the killer is.

But watching Bones marathon made me completely detached from this. 'A man killed with a gunshot, what's new?' While it has been two years or more since last murder, and that was knifing I think (immigrant female killed by former flatmate).

Doctor Who season 3 finish
They called him the Face of Boe?!

And here I was hoping that the Doctor could help him... at least he dies in the end, after I don't know how many million years.

And also -

 What?

What?

What?

What?

Fantastic! I think he will go through that every season, if he does not regenerate. Tho I wonder if the TARDIS is going to be redesigned. Can't wait for the Christmas episode.

Bro: If my bedroom goes, shouldn't the computer go also?

Cue silence for five seconds. I had utterly no idea what the heck he was talking about.

Me: Where did your bedroom go?

He thought he had knocked out the power in the house. But he disconnected the extension cord the computer in his room and TV were connected to.

Back in Iceland
But in Maine timezone, so I am watching the Doctor Who episodes I missed.

Photos up tomorrow, after I watch Deathnote which is after I wake up. And I need to figure out when my next shift in work is.

I am proud to say that during my absense, my brother started to watch Doctor Who. And now he is on the episode about the Daleks in New York.
